I think California would be the best state for van touring. Never too cold, not usually too hot along the coast and in the northern areas. Lots of open land to hide in, lots of places to pull off and sleep along PCH 1 overlooking the cliffs, and many great places to explore, from the beaches of Malibu and San Diego to Yosemite to Big Sur to Carmel/Montery to Napa and the Redwoods to the largely empty and unpopulated northern cliffs.

Happened to drop in on your blog page.

Might have been to another page before - don't recall.

I usually sign with this page:

http://www.mdvaden.com/grove_of_titans.shtml

The Wild Trees was a book that I read also. Did find many of the trees - hence that page.

Noted your internet access comment. If you ever drive through again, and were not aware, the old Lumberjack Tavern - now Hawg Wild - has internet available.

Will probably use it myself in a few weeks if not sooner. May go to Tall Trees Grove again.

Cheers,

Nice to hear from you on a hectic day. As you probably already know, I wish very much that I were with you in the redwoods! I'm glad you're having a nice trip, even if you don't really have time to write about it. I find the same thing happens to me... the more amazing something is, the less likely I'll take pictures. I hardly bothered taking pictures at the Great Wall; I figured that better pictures already exist than I could ever take, but most of all I just wanted to enjoy the experience. Sometimes if you have no record, the memory seems that much more precious. Or maybe that's just me, I dunno. Have fun!
