Tatted skirt

 | July 29, 2008 11:20 am

Has nothing to do with travel, but I’m going to post about it anyway.  Well, actually since it’s what I worked on when I was sitting Yellowstone waiting for the geysers to go off I suppose it’s slightly related.

At any rate, here’s pictures of the skirt I just finished sewing tatting on to.  Still haven’t actually worn it though.  As you can see, it’s a bit wrinkled and could probably use a washing.

The front:

The back (There is another strip on the right.  It’s hard to see because it’s red):

Close up of the design:

Close up of the pattern for the tatters who want to see how it’s made:

I think the pattern came from the web.  I’ll have to look through my printouts and figure out where I got it.  I liked that pattern a lot and think it’s the one I’ll modify for a tablecloth.

Not very exciting for the non-crafters out there, but since I figure it took me about 70 hours for the whole project I’m happy to have finally finished it.

Great work! I like the way you’ve dressed up the skirt with tatted stripes. If you can’t find the pattern on the internet, it’s probably in several classic booklets of tatted/crocheted insertions and edgings. It’s a real classic. Glad you enjoyed Yellowstone!

I love the insertion that you used on your skirt. I used that same pattern to embellish a T-shirt. I added beads to it. I got it out of a book and I tatted it over 15 years ago so I can’t remember for the life of me which book I go tit out of. Good job! I did a recent post on my blog with the T-shirt that has the same insertion design…I improvised the pattern a little bit to make it go around a V-neck.
You can check it out at this link if you like.
So fun to meet more tatters online like yourself!

Thanks for the compliments! I do plan on setting up a tatting only page on the site. I’ll probably get to it sometime in the next month or so.

Tattingchic, I hadn’t really considering doing it all in one color, but I really like that. I’ll have to give that a try.

Fantastic. That’s so funny. Well, I’ll be paying more attention to your blog now that I know you in person as well as on the internet. :)

The Positive Effects of Reiki around the Human Body

However, many people of those who never have yet experienced its power understand

one’s body features a defense system which functions good providing the Ki flow isn’t interrupted.
When the Ki is no longer able to flow through one’s body, illnesses and diseases
can be shown. Reiki stimulates the flow of positive energy,
thus enabling one’s body to heal itself and fight the external and internal attacks
more efficiently.
2. Cleans your body of most toxins. Because it acts about the system,
it can be one of the few complete detox programs it’s possible to
follow. In addition to that it does not involve refraining from food or any other type of activity.
Yet, pessimism have to be banned through the individual’s
mind since they could have a negative impact upon treatments.

3. Promotes health, positive thoughts and relaxation. The principles of Reiki rely on positive thinking, thus a
satisfaction and relaxation is induced towards the individual.
By removing negative energy and promoting feeling of peace, the healing process will probably be easier and shorter, regardless of illness or disease that the individual suffers.

4. Works for the gastrointestinal tract and improves the benefic outcomes of every thing a person ingests, from food and water to medicines and
curative herbs. Thus, it could be used successfully as being
a complementary therapy for the people already taking medicine, but at the same time it can be perfect for maintain the individual’s health in good parameters.

5. Works on personal feelings, helping people conquer negative experiences from
other lives and dealing with unexpected or unpleasant situations
from their lives. People with depressions, anxieties
or struggling with stress are able to see dramatic improvements of these conditions following your Reiki sessions.

6. Makes the transition from life to death easier. It helps the soul transcend into immortality and our bodies feel less experiencing
this transformation. This is why many Reiki adepts use the Ki to make their transition from world to
an alternative smoother.
