Travels with Charley and planning a route

 | June 5, 2008 7:02 pm

How is it that I was an English Lit major in college and never read anything by John Steinbeck? I’m really enjoying Travels with Charley right now though I have very little time for reading because of the pledge drive. Getting in a chapter or so each night, but I’m too tired at the end of the day to do much more.

I put aside Blue Highways for the moment to finish this one first. Wanted to read them in “order” as it were. I think I’ll be doing a lot more reading during this next trip out. I’m looking forward to spending more time just staying put and enjoying whereever it is that I happen to be.

Which reminds me that at some point I’ll have to figure out where I’ll be going. I know I’m heading up to Colorado at the end of this month for a biking thing, and then I know in August I’ll be in Vegas for a convention. July is still up in the open. I wasn’t able to see Yellowstone last time I was out because of the weather, but hoping that it will be clear by July.

All this is on my mind because I’m spending all day here at the KJAZZ pledge drive and our volunteers keep asking me about my plans. At some point I’ll actually have to figure them out myself. Until then I’ll continue to enjoy the pledge drive. No really, I enjoy the chaos of it. Though, that being said, I am getting very excited about being back on the road again. Another week and a half.
